Release Date & Platforms
While the exact release date for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra hasn’t been officially revealed yet, we do know that it’ll launch sometime in 2025.
It was also announced that the upcoming game would be published by Plaion. Unfortunately, this news didn’t offer any other updates regarding the game, but it indicates that Rise of Hydra is developing smoothly and is set to arrive on time.
The eagerly anticipated game was announced during the GDC 2024 State of Unreal presentation on March 20. Unfortunately, no platforms have been confirmed so far for Marvel
1943: Rise of Hydra. There’s a high chance that the game might arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and most likely PC as well. However, this news hasn’t been confirmed officially.
The 2025 slate has begun filling up with high-profile and eagerly anticipated titles, including Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Grand Theft Auto 6.
Therefore, many fans are waiting to see if the game’s confirmed release date will put Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra in direct competition with these other upcoming titles.
However, there’s much waiting before we start thinking about that!
Characters
In the eagerly anticipated game, players have the chance to play as four characters previously seen in the Marvel Universe.
First and foremost, we have a young Steve Rogers, commonly called Captain America. He’s a popular USA soldier who has tremendous strength and powers, helping him stand out from the rest. Players are excited to take this character out for a spin!
Next up, we have Azzurri, T’Challa’s grandfather, and that era’s Black Panther since the game was set in 1943. Gabriel Jones is the third character that players will be able to play in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
He’s a member of the Howling Commandos and is also a soldier of America. Lastly, we have Nanali, a Wakandan spy who is busy working from within Paris.
In addition to these characters, the upcoming game is also set to feature Howard Stark, Iron Man’s father.
He’s a gifted scientist and businessman who has proved to be an amazing asset when it came to helping the Allied forces during World War II with several top-secret projects.
When it comes to the Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra voice cast, here’s the entire list:
- Steve Rogers/Captain America – Drew Moerlein
- Azzurri/Black Panther – Khary Payton
- Gabriel Jones – Marque Richardson
- Nanali – Megalyn Echikunwoke
- Howard Stark – Joel Johnstone
Setting & Plot
As the name suggests, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra takes place after World War II in 1943, right in the middle of a Nazi-occupied Paris.
You’ll have the option to choose any of the four characters mentioned above. Based on the fact that the game is called Rise of Hydra, there’s a chance we’ll see the evil organization take off and become one of the most lethal enemies.
While the story details haven’t been properly revealed, it seems as if the four heroes will unite to work together in order to save Paris from Hydra’s growing threat and the Nazi occupiers.
However, the game might start with Captain America and Black Panther being on bad terms since the story trailer features one scene where the two heroes are going up against each other.
Despite the fact that they share the same goal of taking down Hydra and the Nazis, they might have some things to straighten out at first.
In the game, players might come across some other deadly opponents, including Zola and Red Skull. However, aside from the Nazis, the enemies haven’t been officially revealed, so we have no idea who players might be crossing paths with.
Trailers
So far, only one trailer has been revealed related to the upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra game. This was a story trailer that informed us about the Marvel game’s setting and the characters players can choose to play.
In the trailer, we see that each hero has unique reasons and ulterior motives for going after Hydra. Their alliance goes up and down at every turn.
From the looks of the trailer, the game is about to be amazing and has made complete use of the most recent Unreal Engine 5 advances.
The lead in the game’s development at Skydance New Media, Amy Hennig, claimed that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has given her the ability to get creative and develop an immersive experience that players would enjoy fully. She said:
“In the past, this has always felt like it was just beyond our grasp. But I think we’re finally crossing that threshold. When we’re telling a character-driven story, it’s critical for us to faithfully capture every nuance of our actor’s stellar performances.
So we’ve been incredibly grateful to partner with our friends on the MetaHuman team to tell our story.”
Gameplay
Unfortunately, no details or trailers regarding the game’s gameplay have been revealed or shared thus far.
However, the story trailer does somewhat give us an idea of what we can expect from the gameplay of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
While it’s not confirmed, players will likely be able to play as either Captain America or Black Panter, if not Gabriel or Nanali.
In the trailer, we see Black Panther doing a whole lot more stealth and platforming, whereas Captain America comparatively takes a more direct approach with the help of his shield. There’s no word on whether players cortunoose their characters or switch among them for certain chapters.
While the footage was entirely cinematic, we did get some hints.
The GDC trailer also showcased some moments of scenes that are somewhat similar to gameplay footage, featuring a third-person perspective quite often seen in other games.
Captain America, with his shield, and Black Panther, with his Wakandan technology, can become a force to be reckoned with. However, one thing is for sure: each hero has a unique combat style.
Skydance New Media has claimed that the visuals fans can view in the story trailer are really what Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is set to look like.
Moreover, the development team hasn’t offered players a fake demo similar to what other games mostly do, saying that we’ll get what we see. The game’s gorgeous aspects and advanced visuals are all thanks to Unreal Engine 5.
Amy Hennig explained that whatever the team has done within the upcoming game would not have been possible to achieve without the help of Unreal Engine 5.
She further claims that with the help of this brand-new advancement, they’ll get the chance to develop some exciting games that will make it feel like the players are viewing a movie with the power to control it as well.
Pre-Order Details
Unfortunately, since Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra isn’t scheduled to come out until 2025, there’s nothing about its preorder details that can be revealed.
Marvel is a huge fan of offering a wide range of bonuses and special editions to the players, but they won’t be officially revealed until we’re much closer to the game’s release date. Till then, let’s save some money!
Conclusion
That’s all there is to know about the eagerly anticipated Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
Since the game is so far away from release, we have no other option but to sit around and wait for the developers to offer more information regarding the game as time passes.
So far, it seems like the game is going to be absolutely worth the wait, especially since it’s a Marvel game that will feature two of the most powerful characters i.e., Captain America and Black Panther!
